I’m Lucas van Pouderoijen, a 22-year-old artist and designer working primarily with solid wood. My journey began in traditional woodworking and furniture making, but during my time at the University of the Arts, I developed a growing interest in organic, sculptural forms.

While much organic art is created in clay, metal, or synthetic materials, I was drawn to the quiet complexity of wood—its age, its grain, its memory. I felt that flat surfaces often hide more than they reveal, and that a solid piece of wood deserves to be read, not just seen. That idea led to the creation of my wall sculptures.

Over time, I started bringing functionality back into the process. The balance between object and utility, between sculpture and product, defines my practice today. Each piece I make is one of a kind, entirely handmade, without digital replication or CNC machines. I work intuitively, letting the material and concept shape each other in the studio.

I’m always looking to explore new forms and directions. I welcome unique commissions and enjoy tackling complex, unconventional ideas. My goal is to create work that speaks both through its form and its making.
